Donor kidneys revitalized for transplant at Toronto General Hospital

A team at Toronto General Hospital is using an “ex-vivo” machine to preserve and rejuvenate kidneys by mimicking the conditions inside the body prior to transplant. Its use could make more kidney transplants possible. About five per cent of patients die while on the waiting list in Ontario every year.
