Before he was elected the 45th President of the United States, Trump appeared in a number of movies and TV shows.
Now Damon, who is promoting his new movies – Suburbicon and Downsizing – at the Venice Film Festival, has claimed the reason is because The Donald makes filmmakers do it.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, he said: “The deal was that if you wanted to shoot in one of his buildings, you had to write him in a part.
“[Director] Martin Brest had to write something in Scent of a Woman — and the whole crew was in on it.”
The filmmakers had been in “serious talks” with Trump, who was “thrilled” at the idea.
However eventually they were told it wasn’t the best time, because he was “thinking about making a legitimate run for the presidency.”
