Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi bids fans farewell amid LAST filming day

The 59-year-old actor was spotted in Cardiff saying goodbye to fans after shooting his last sequences as the 12th Doctor.

It appeared to be an emotional day as the Scottish actor, who was seen still in costume meeting with fans near the Doctor Who studios in Wales.

Many people took to social media to share photos they’d taken with the star and express their adulation with one person saying: “It was his idea to come out and see us, and together with Moff, Gatiss, Briggs and Minchin, we gave him a farewell to remember.”

A second person wrote on Twitter: “BEST. COINCIDENCE. EVER. #PeterCapaldi is a true gift from god. He organised everyone to come out and see us and bought us cakes.”

“Peter Capaldi just came out with all the crew and camera men, I even hugged him my favourite!” added a third.

It comes as Peter revealed that the forthcoming Christmas special will be a “fanboy’s dream” featuring the first Doctor (David Bradley).

Speaking to TV & Satellite, he said: “It’s a tour de force. It’s a fanboy’s dream, it’s also a beautiful and joyous script.”

He went on to say: “The one thing I have to say is, it’s Christmas Day, we’re gonna keep it funny, and we’re gonna keep it lively, as well as sad.

“If we cry, [the audience] won’t. We want them to cry. So Doctor Who will laugh bravely into that good night.”

Doctor Who fans are set to get a sneak peek at the festival episode in a couple of weeks when the BBC will drop a clip at San Diego Comic-Con during a panel.

The panel is set to feature stars Peter Capaldi who plays the 12th Time Lord, Pearl Mackie who stars as companion Bill Potts, Matt Lucas as alien Nardole and Michelle Gomez who portrays the female incarnation of the Master known as Missy.

Along with the actors outgoing Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat and fellow writer Mark Gatiss will be appearing at the Q&A session.

Doctor Who will return to BBC One on Christmas Day.
