With the new season of Doctor Who rapidly approaching, viewers of the BBC sci-fi show have been treated to a series of teases over the last few weeks.
Now, new companion Bradley Walsh, 58, has teased a few more details about his character Graham, who will be one of the oldest companions to journey with the Doctor over the past few years.
Graham will join Ryan (played by Tosin Cole) and Yas (Mandip Gill) as they travel through time and space with 36-year-old Jodie’s doctor.
Bradley has revealed he hopes viewers will have a connection with his older character despite the age gap with his new friends.
Discussing his character with Metro.co.uk, Bradley said: “Hopefully younger viewers will look at my character and some of the things I say and do and think, “Oh my dad would say that. Oh my grandad would say that” so that’s me.
“I’m the elder statesman keeping that sort of side of it together. You’ve gotta keep the grey pound happy,” he continued.
The one-minute trailer paid homage to Jodie as the first ever female Doctor to take the reigns of the TARDIS.
One of the main features of the new companions showed the three characters defending their Gallifreyan friend.
An unknown character is heard asking Ryan: “Why are you asking her?” to which the younger companion replies: “Because she’s in charge, bro.”
As the character continues to question, the three companions get behind the Doctor as they seem to have built up a trust with their new friend.
“Says who?” the character hits back, to which Graham joins Ryan and Yas to say: “Says us.”
Bradley praised his co-star Jodie in a recent interview with People, urging viewers to tune in to see the new era dawn.
The Chase presenter said: “If there are any Doctor Who fans out there, Jodie is magnificent.
“It was unbelievable. It is really big stuff and they have gone for it,” Bradley continued referring to the production teams efforts.
Bradley has worked with new showrunner Chris Chibnall, 48, previous to his time travelling role.
The TV personality worked alongside the writer when he starred as DS Ronnie Brooks in ITV drama Law and Order:UK from 2009-2014.
With a new series, comes a new time slot as the Time Lord’s adventures will now broadcast on Sunday night’s in a show first.
After several reports around the schedule change, the BBC confirmed last month that Doctor Who will air on Sunday evenings.
Following the announcement, Chris said in a BBC statement: “New Doctor, new home! Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor is about to burst into Sunday nights – and make the end of the weekend so much more exciting.”
Doctor Who returns October 7 on BBC One.
