DIY SOS: Nick Knowles CLASHES with Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen over design issues

The flamboyant interior designer set about creating a masterpiece for Mark Burrows who was left brain dead after one punch.

Although the end project was astounding, host Nick, 54, appeared to rub Laurence up the wrong way, and vice-versa.

The designer explained that he was going off Mark’s love of dance music, creating an Ibiza-themed haven for him.

But Nick wasn’t impressed, throwing the camera and his builders a wry look, before admitting: “He might be wearing more lacquer than a French dresser but he has a point.”

What’s more, dressed in an electric blue suit and orange silk scarf, Laurence set about spray-painting a circular design in the garden, risking his fine attire for the cause.

Nick couldn’t resist a dig, joking: “I was gonna say mind the suit, but it could only get better really.”

The host looked positively baffled towards the end of the show when Laurence set to painting a garden chair blue, despite having little time to do so.

“We cannot stop the inestimable surge of design in this house,” the 52-year-old argued.

Nick snapped back: “It’s an issue of coverage really, Laurence.”

However the designer was having none of it, arguing: “It’s an issue of authorship, Nicholas. Design is now in charge.”

DIY SOS airs Wednesdays on BBC One at 9pm.
