Debbie McGee reveals secret battle after Strictly Come Dancing ahead of LIVE TV diagnosis

Speaking to Kate Garraway, , for the ITV show’s Sleep Revolution campaign, she confessed that following , she feels like she can’t calm down.

The Good Morning Britain host asked: “, we’ve got you out of your bed. What are your problems?”

“I’ve been really busy working seven days a week for just over six months and now I just feel like my body is racing,” Debbie explained.

“I can’t get off to sleep and if I do drop off I only sleep for three or four hours. I can’t calm down.”

Kate went on to note: “You have had to deal with the loss of Paul [Daniels].”

“I don’t think I’ve ever slept properly since Paul died so I think that’s added to it,” the 59-year-old shared.

“I haven’t been able to sleep for the past two years.”

Dr Hillary, who had joined Kate on Lorraine, explained: “This is common as people expect their brain to switch off like that.

“The brain can’t do that. It needs time to make an adjustment.”

Debbie will return to the ITV chat show on Monday to reveal the changes she has made to try and improve her sleeping.

Today’s show saw Kate present as Lorraine was unable to host due to illness.

The official Twitter account for Lorraine revealed: “Our @reallorrraine is poorly today so @kategarraway is stepping in, thanks Kate! #GetWellSoonLorraine.”

Speaking ahead of the show, Kate joked that she hadn’t been prepared to quickly stand in for the 58-year-old.

“How exciting! I was still in bed 20 minutes ago,” she laughed.

“I have absolutely no idea what is in the show but shall we find out together?”

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 8.30am.
