Death in Paradise’s cast will be a little smaller this year now Danny John-Jules will be absent.
The actor, 58, played police officer, Dwayne Myers for seven seasons, but stepped down last year.
He went on to take part in Strictly Come Dancing, where he was eliminated in week eight.
Now, the current cast of the BBC detective series have opened up on what it was like losing the actor from the show.
Ardal recently spoke to Digital Spy, and noted how the cast of Death in Paradise should and always does change.
He himself replaced Kris Marshall, who in turn replaced Ben Miller as the lead detective.
The former Father Ted star added: “We’re all dispensable.
“Absolutely, when I heard that Danny was leaving, I thought, ‘Hmm. How will that play? How will the audience take that?’
“Because he’s a very popular character in the show, and he’s been there since the start as well, so there’s that.
“But we’ve seen time and time again that the show survives these cast changes.”
Ardal continued to praise Shyko Amos who will be replacing Danny on the show as Ruby Patterson.
He added how he doesn’t feel any “fears” about the upcoming episodes without Dwayne.
When Shyko was announced for the role, she said: “Officer Ruby Patterson is a bundle of joy!
“I am very excited for Death in Paradise viewers to experience her as the new member of the already amazing law enforcement team of Saint Marie.”
The show’s producer Tim Key added: “We’re delighted to welcome Shyko to the team.
“She’s a really exciting young actor who has already made a huge impact on set as Officer Ruby Patterson.
“We’re very sad to have said goodbye to Danny, whose brilliant performance as Dwayne has helped make the show a success.
“We wish Danny all the very best and look forward to working with him again.
“We can’t wait for the audience to see what we’ve got in store.”
Death in Paradise airs this evening on BBC One at 9pm.
