Deadpool 2 hasn’t even hit cinemas and attention is already turning to what happens next.
At the end of the trailer , there is a extra meta scene where Deadpool brags to his pal Weasel (TJ Miller): “It lives up to the hype, plus, plus.”
Weasel shoots back: “F*** it, they probably won’t even make a (Deadpool) 3.”
Ryan Reynolds agrees: “Why would they? Stop at two, you’ve killed it.”
Is he serious?
The obvious answer is Deadpool is never serious. However, it is also unclear whether this is a scene from the movie or a special fourth-wall beaking moment for the trailer.
Reynolds has never hidden his plan to spin-off a new X-Force franchise and Deadpool 2 is clearly setting this up. When the Merc With A Mouth rounds up his new team, he makes the X symbol and declares they will be called X-Force.
Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Black Tom Cassidy and Domino are already confirmed and fans are sure they have seen Shatterstar in the trailer.
Cable is traditionally the leader in the comicbooks, once he gets over killing the young boy in the trailer, and actor Josh Brolin confirmed he is contracted for three more movies.
Despite Deadpool’s teasing comments, it looks increasingly certain that Deadpool 3 and X-Force movies are on the horizon.
Deadpool writer Rhett Reese said: “I think we’ll be able to take two paths. [X-Force] is where we’re launching something bigger, but then [Deadpool 3 is] where we’re contracting and staying personal and small.”
The most tantalising prospect of all is the inclusion of Wolverine, who sometimes also leads the team in the comicbooks.
