Dancing On Ice 2018: Jake Quickenden to MISS final after injury? Star speaks out

Speaking on , the star insisted that he would perform in the final as he has “come too far” to miss it.

He told host Lorraine Kelly: “I dislocated my thumb yesterday. It’s a lot of fuss over nothing. It’s all precautionary, I’ll be fine, even if they had to put a pot on it, I’d still be dancing in the final.

“I’ve come this far, I don’t want to not dance in the final.”

Jake did go on to note that he has been worried about lifting his skating partner Vanessa Bauer following his injury.

“I don’t want to lift Vanessa and something happen,” he explained. “But it will be fine.”

It comes after it was reported that the 28-year-old was rushed to hospital during training.

An insider told The Sun: “He was rushed to hospital having dislocated his thumb. They were filming at the time.

“Obviously this could affect his chances in the final as he may not be able to do lifts.”

During his interview on Lorraine, Jake also opened up about his experiences with sleep paralysis.

“I always struggle sleeping. Sometimes, when I’m over tired, or I’ve been on my mobile phone all night and I’m looking at that, I kind of wake up but I can’t move,” he said.

“I’m basically paralysed. My eyes are open but I can’t speak and you’re still in a dream. It’s really weird, it’s quite scary.”

He went on to admit that he rarely sleeps more than four to five hours a night.

“I’m a night owl, definitely,” Jake noted. “I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night and go down and make myself a cup of tea, which is the worst thing and eat a full pack of biscuits and then go back to bed at like three.”

Jake is currently the favourite to win this year’s series of Dancing On Ice.

He was the first contestant to receive a perfect score of 40 points during Sunday night’s semi-finals.

The former X Factor star dedicated his performance to his late dad and brother.

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 8.30am while Dancing On Ice airs Sunday on ITV at 6pm.
