Good Morning Britain weatherman Alex, 37, has been hot on the heels of competition favourite Jake Quickenden on 2018’s Dancing On Ice so far.
The Bristol-born presenter has successfully impressed the ITV show’s judges week-on-week with his continually improving technique alongside his professional skater Brianne.
But this week, the contestant might really be in trouble following a difficult few days of being forced to train alone.
Canadian Brianne, also 37, has been struck with the flu after a bout of the illness swept the show’s pros, leaving tomorrow’s live show in jeopardy and bosses forced to take action.
Yet with an entire week of practice without his partner, Alex has understandably voiced his concern over how their performance will pan out tomorrow night.
The star has now revealed that he only managed to get a precious 45 minutes of training time with his partner before she had give in to recuperation.
Yet with this week involving three whole routines for the couple to try and perform, Max couldn’t hide the fact that he had “no idea” about how they would perform when it came to the crunch tomorrow.
Amid the chaos, X Factor star Jake was banned from going anywhere near his partner Vanessa Bauer after she contracted the norovirus.
And on top of that, other show favourite and rugby ace Max Evans was confirmed to be dancing with someone new this week following the news that his pro skating partner Ale Izquierdo also got the flu.
The rest of the remaining acts in the competition consist of Love Island winner Kem Cetinay and Coronation Street actress Brooke Vincent, who is the only remaining female in the reality series.
Last weekend, fellow actor Antony Cotton and radio host Donna Air were eliminated from the series in a surprise double eviction.
The decision was the first in the show’s history, and meant that the series could get down to business with the skating for the remainder of the series.
Amid the drama, former Strictly Come Dancing professional James Jordan lashed out at Antony, saying that he thought the judges’ comments were “justifiable”.
James wrote on Twitter: “Watching @dancingonice and Anthony Cotton just got destroyed by the judges but justifiably.
“Also, is it just me but he seems like he could be a right pain to work with. Doesn’t come across likeable at all. #DancingOnIce.”
Meanwhile presenter Holly Willoughby also revealed that iconic Olympic winners Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will be taking part in a shock performance during the show’s finale after previously saying they wouldn’t take to the ice this year.
Dancing On Ice continues tomorrow at 6pm on ITV.
