Dan Walker ‘appalled’ by Louise Minchin’s opinion on VERY controversial subject

Dan, 40, and Louise, 49, are usually seen getting on swimmingly as they present BBC Breakfast, but today the two found themselves arguing.

The pair were reporting the news that pub chain Wetherspoons had to stop selling all rump, sirloin and gammon steaks yesterday after a product recall.

The story sparked a massive debate between the presenters as they argued over whether it was acceptable to eat pineapple with gammon.

Louise could not hide her disgust, which Dan was quick to notice.

“You did that face you do when I mention gammon,” he started.

“Or when you mention anything that I don’t like,” Louise chimed in.

She asserted she didn’t like the idea of warm gammon paired with the fruit, saying: “No warm or hot pineapple!”

Her co-host seemed flabbergasted that she could turn her nose up at his favourite dish.

“I retract the offer of a meal at my house then,” he jokingly snapped.

Dan was so affected by Louise’s outlook, he even took her to task on Twitter while the show was still live.

“Appalled by @louiseminchin’s dismissal of gammon this morning. Until you’ve experienced the power of gammon, chips, pineapple and a fried egg you haven’t lived,” Dan wrote.

“It is not so much the gammon that is the issue, but the hot pineapple,” Louise clarified.

Those watching at home couldn’t help but chip in on the debate on Twitter, and it was clear opinions were split.

“Working from home and I am with you @louiseminchin about warm pineapple yuk yuk yuk @BBCBreakfast,” another added.

However, some viewers agreed with Dan’s point of view.

“What’s so weird about gammon topped with a pinappple ring? It’s a classic home dinner. Can’t believe that’s getting slated on the BBC – what are things coming to! #bbcbreakfast.” (sic)

Despite the friction, the pair seemed to tackle the discussion with good humour and presented the rest of the show without further drama.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
