Country mansion hidden in the middle of suburbia on the market for £350,000

But Wordsley Manor is not a typical country home – with the Grade II* listed property hidden in the middle of suburbia.

The four-storey property, which sits in one-and-a-half acres and dates back to 1757, is filled with vast, character-filled entertaining rooms along with four large bedrooms.

It also has one floor dedicated to film – boasting a 49-seat cinema with box office and projection room.

The manor, in Wordsley, near Stourbridge, West Midlands, is now up for sale with a £350,000 guide price – but it is only open to cash buyers with resources to update the 7,500sq/ft property.

It is on the market with The Lee Shaw Partnership, which is inviting best and final offers by June 27.

Helen Prytherch, from The Lee Shaw Partnership, said: “I’ve not come across a property like it.

“When you think of a manor home, you think it would cost more and it offers great value for money in the middle of the Black Country.

“If it was positioned in a few acres of open countryside, fully modernised, then it would be worth in excess of £2 million.

“It does need money spending on it, but it is full of original features and is a really interesting home and with its own cinema too.”

Wordsley Manor dates back to approximately 1757, with its first owners, the Holt family, being Black Country industrialists.

For the past 160 years it has been owned by the same family with the current owners living there since the 1990s.

Over the years, land around the property has been used to build new homes.

Most recently, a developer has built a number of upmarket homes and as part of the planning deal, he has to provide the owner of Wordsley Manor with funding for renovation work every time a house is sold.

On top of the main accommodation, the mansion also has two wings which require renovation.
