Michelle is famous for her roles in BBC‘s Goodnight Sweetheart and 1987’s Rita, Sue and Bob Too, and previously played Rovers Return barmaid Tina Fowler in Coronation Street back in the early ’90s.
Now she is set to join Hollyoaks as Greta, a woman involved in Scott’s (played by Ross Adams) mission to piece together his family history after he found out he was adopted in a shock twist.
Joining the show next week, Greta will be tracked down by Scott when he discovers an old address for his birth mother and shows up at her door.
Channel 4 bosses are keeping tight-lipped about whether Greta will help Scott find his family or whether the information she gives him will leave him feeling even more lost than before.
Speaking about her part on the show, Michelle said: “It’s a pleasure to be working on Hollyoaks and with the hugely talented Ross Adams.
“We’re having such a great time and lots of laughs in the quest to find Scott’s mum.”
Michelle is no stranger to soaps, as she also appeared in several episodes of ITV‘s Emmerdale nearly 20 years ago.
She’s entering Hollyoaks at a very dramatic time, as the village is in chaos after the murder of Amy Barnes (Ashley Slanina-Davies) last week.
Although Amy’s ex Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) has since confessed to the crime, questions are being asked as to whether he is the real killer.
Hollyoaks continues tomorrow at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
Michelle Holmes’ first scenes will air 7pm Tuesday April 11 on E4 and 6.30pm Wednesday 12 on Channel 4.
