Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon wants Bethany’s groomer Nathan JAILED to set an example

Fans of the ITV soap have watched in horror as Nathan (played by Christopher Harper) has continued to groom schoolgirl Bethany (Lucy Fallon) for many months.

And in upcoming scenes, the sex-ring plot will take a sinister turn as Nathan forces the 16-year-old into having a threesome with his two friends.

Now the actress, who plays the youngster, has revealed she wants to see Bethany’s fiancé behind bars to give hope to those people who are going through the same ordeal.

“I would like to see him in prison,” Lucy told The Sun Online, but acknowledged that isn’t usually the case as she added: “I think it’s quite rare that cases go to court.”

For research, the Coronation Street star spoke to a victim of grooming and sexual abuse, Lucie, who helped her understand the storyline.

Lucy continued: “Lucie’s case didn’t even get to court. The person who did it to her is still living in her area now.

“I think it’s important that we show people that if it’s happening to somebody who’s now watching it that he does go to prison otherwise they’ll be like, ‘Oh well there’s no point in me telling anyone that this is happening to me because nothing will come of it’.”

In next week’s episodes of the soap, Bethany’s mother Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) becomes increasingly worried for her child and calls the police.

Unaware that the officer is Nathan’s friend Neil who recently raped Bethany, Sarah tells him everything she knows and admits she thinks her daughter is scared of her own fiancé.

However, after hearing what Sarah has said to Neil, Bethany alienates her mother even further and slips into Nathan’s grasp where he suggests they invite Neil and another friend over so she can “show her gratitude”.

Coronation Street continues Friday 7:30pm on ITV.
