Coronation Street spoilers: Tragic DEATH scare leaves Weatherfield devastated 'Please no!'

Fan favourite David Platt (played by Jack P. Shepherd) almost lost a member of his family in a dramatic near-fatal car incident.

David’s Yorkshire Terrier, also named David, was almost flattened by Cathy Matthews (Melanie Hill) and Brian Packham’s (Peter Gunn) vehicle.

Borrowing a car for a Boney M themed night out, Cathy was driving along when Brian insisted she cleaned the windscreen.

However, believing the driver would be someone else, the windscreen wiper fluid had been sabotaged by Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) and her group of school friends.

As blue paint splattered the glass and obscured their vision, disaster almost struck when pooch David ran in front of the car.

Almost losing control of the car, luckily Cathy heavily braked just in front of David.

Loyal fans of the soap frantically took to social media fearing they would lose the beloved character.

One viewer tweeted: “Omg I would NOT have been happy if anything had happened to David the dog.”

“Poor David the dog! Thank god he’s ok,” added another, as a third posted: “My heart skipped a beat.”

David is not having the best experience on the cobbles having been kidnapped just weeks ago by neighbour Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King).

The dog joined the soap in April when he was unexpectedly left to David in a will.

continues on Friday on at 7.30pm.
