The Coronation Street villain guaranteed to create a stir with her return to the ITV soap is abusive mother Kirsty Soames (played by Natalie Gumede) and fans are ready for her to do just that.
Friday’s double-bill saw mother-of-one Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) decide to ditch her husband Tyrone (Alan Halsall) in a heartbreaking scene.
Scared for her daughter Hope’s safety, the fiery red-head informed her partner that she simply couldn’t trust his little girl Ruby not to hurt her half-sister.
Fiz moved out and it makes sense that if Kirsty does make a sudden return in future episodes she will be furious with the woman who was supposed to be looking after her daughter.
Viewers last saw Kirsty being sent down for a domestic abuse charge against former partner Tyrone and the latter was left to care for his daughter alone until finding love once more with Fiz.
Yet recently, Fiz and Tyrone’s arguing over how to handle their problematic offspring has caused extreme friction in the relationship.
It seemed to be the last straw when Fiz suggested that Ruby had inherited Kirsty’s anger and the wedge between the couple was driving them further and further apart.
While Tyrone panicked that Kirsty could return to the cobbles after her release from prison back in 2014, it’s only now that fans are certain it is a real possibility.
They took to Twitter to debate the potential storyline, also hinting that the ex-policewoman could “sort” serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) out.
“Bring back Kirsty Soames! She’ll sort Ruby AND Phelan out!” one person wrote.
Another said: “Kirsty would end Fiz if she knew what she was doing to her daughter.”
“Hope is setting up Ruby… Kirsty will go spare when she finds out,” a third agreed.
Upcoming episodes will see the truth revealed when Fiz discovers the culprit is actually Hope rather than Ruby.
The horrifying realisation may change everything for struggling couple Fiz and Tyrone, despite Tyrone’s cheating behaviour with Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell).
But before that, sparks are set to fly next week when Fiz catches out her husband – are the lovebirds over for good?
Coronation Street continues Monday at 7.30pm on ITV.
