Coronation Street viewers have ripped into the ITV soap after resident bad boy Pat Pehlan (played by Conor McIntyre) survived plummeting into ice cold water.
Despite plunging off a harbour wall and into the sea on Good Friday, Pat was seen settling into a B&B on Easter Monday.
The villain was perched up on a bed, when a sweet old lady delivered him a sewing box to help him mend a nasty gash across his leg.
Desperate to tackle the gruesome sore, Pat insisted he had to be left alone to tend to the bruise instead of visiting a hospital as advised.
Naturally, viewers were taken aback when they saw Pat appear on their screen after his brush with death.
One fan fumed: “Pat Phelan is alive. The greatest resurrection since Jesus himself 2018 years ago.”(sic)
“So he died on Good Friday and he’s alive by Monday. It’s confirmed Pat Phelan is in fact Jesus,” joked another.
A third tweeted: “Long live Pat Jesus Phelan, who cannot be stopped.”
“He’s not the Messiah, he’s a very naughty boy!” raged a fourth viewer.
Others seemed baffled by the unsuspecting plot twist, with one writing: “This is just getting ridiculous now, surviving that fall into that freezing cold sea?”
Another added: “Of course Phelan was thrown off a cliff landing in freezing cold temperature swam to Ireland with a gammy leg and paid for a B&B with zero money. Only in Corrie.”
Fans of the show were sure Pat had died when his wife Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) stamped on his hands causing him to fall off a cliff edge and into the sea.
The evil builder was branded “insane” by Eileen after he confessed to watching Michael Rodwell (Les Dennis) die and killing Vinny Ashford (Ian Kelsey), Andy Carver (Oliver Farnworth) and Luke Britton (Dean Fagan).
“First one was Michael, your Michael.” Pat told Eileen. “I didn’t actually kill him… I just watched him when his heart packed up.
“Back then I wasn’t sure I could kill. That’s why I locked up Andy in a cellar for months, almost a year in fact.
“Turns out I could kill, turns out I was pretty good at it. I got him to finish Vinny off. Andy and Vinny, the concrete twins.”
He added: “Poor Luke, well Luke was an obstacle you see love and by then I was pretty good at killing, it was almost easy. It was like I couldn’t lose.”
Eileen was arrested shortly after Pat’s cliff-edge fall and was asked by police whether she knew about his crimes.
Coronation Street continues Wednesday on ITV at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
