Coronation Street spoilers: Jenny Bradley star teases wedding CHAOS amid Rita Tanner fall

Soap star Sally Ann Matthews has hinted that there could be chaos in store for her character Jenny Bradley as she prepares to walk down the aisle with Johnny Connor (played by Richard Hawley).

Teasing the upcoming storyline, which will also see Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) exacting revenge on love rat Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) on their big day, the 46-year-old actress actress said: “Does she get married? We know she gets to the venue.

“I think, as I say, things have happened and most of the time she’s reacted off the scale because she’s had to have the joint wedding and saddled with having Gemma as a bridesmaid.

“The wedding is so important. She doesn’t have many friends on the street. So it’s going, ‘I am here, look at me and my life is wonderful from where it was a couple of years ago and that’s a statement’, plus she loves Johnny hugely.”

Sally went on to suggest that Rita Tanner’s (Barbara Knox) health will also have an effect on Jenny and Johnny’s impending nuptials, saying: “I think she might reassess things and think who’s important and what’s important?”

She added: “Rita’s been the only constant in her life for a very long time. Jenny’s lost her mum, her dad, her auntie Doreen, her son Tom, and then with Johnny having his diagnosis and Rita not being herself at the moment.”

However, before the big day Rita’s health will take a turn for the worst at the hen do which Sally promised would leave fans reeling and provoke a strong viewer reaction.

Speaking about the hard-hitting storyline, Sally said: “I think Friday, September 15 Twitter will go crazy. The rest of the following week Twitter will go crazy. There’ll be more petitions and badges on the Corrie blogs.

“It’s a storyline that Barbara is so deserving off. It’s been so well thought out and she’s been very involved in the way it’s gonna play out. She has worked her backside off on it and she’s amazing that she’s 84 and she’s worked such long days.”

The Manchester-born star went on to say: “In fact they were kind of saying to her, ‘Just do this’ and she was like, ‘Give me more. Give me more. Make it go there, there and then there,’ and I think it’s amazing and brilliant – as it was with Bill in ‘who pushed Ken down the stairs?’

“To have two actors who have been in the show forever, who are in their mid-80s to be carrying ITV’s flagship show, is exceptional, and they both do a sterling job. Just get lots of Kleenex and wine.”

Coronation Street continues on ITV tomorrow at 7.30pm.
