Coronation Street spoilers: David Platt rapist exposed as Shona makes big Josh discovery

David (played by Jack P. Shepherd) could be about to see some revenge for his sexual assault on Coronation Street.

The hairdresser was drugged and raped by Josh (Ryan Clayton) who he thought was his friend.

David has remained silent through his ordeal, until Aidan Connor’s (Shayne Ward) suicide prompts him to tell someone his woes.

After confiding in girlfriend Shona (Julia Goulding), David finally feels he can get the support he needs.

But it’s not enough for Shona who wants to see Josh pay for his crimes.

And in upcoming scenes, the rapist’s past will be exposed after Shona goes digging.

She uncovers another of his victims who used to work with him and it seems David is not his only victim.

Actor Ryan has teased what’s to come following Shona’s shock discovery, hinting this could be the beginning of the end for Josh’s reign of terror.

He told TV Times: “He’ll try to look as calm as he can, but he is panicking.

“There are many people he needs to be wary of in his past, and this is the first time he’s been confronted by someone.

“I think he does feel threatened, and she isn’t going to make life easy.”

He went on to discuss Josh’s “relationship” with Alya Nazir (Sair Khan), explaining it’s just to prove he is interested in women.

“The more people he is closer to, the more likely they’ll be on his side, rather than David’s, if anything gets out.”

What’s more, Josh believes he can get away with his crimes, saying he is “clever” who he targets.

But with Shona on the case, will Josh be able to evade punishment for much longer?

Meanwhile, Shona star Julia added to the publication how her character just wants to “smack” the rapist.

Unable to forget about what Josh did to her partner, she insists on hunting for clues as to his past.

Julia added how it is important viewers saw David go through the awful ordeal as it would be closer to real life.

She explained how not many people report rape instantly, making it important to reflect that in David’s story.

Coronation Street continues Wednesday on ITV at 7.30pm.
