Coronation Street stalwart Audrey Roberts (played by Sue Nicholls) has had a traumatic week.
After being led to believe her partner Lewis Archer (Nigel Havers) was cheating on her and scheming to steal her money, she found him dead in his room.
And that wasn’t all, as poor old Lewis was clutching an engagement ring intended for Audrey.
Poor Audrey’s woes didn’t stop there, either, as she later realised her bank account had been entirely cleared out, leaving her penniless, and in mourning.
In upcoming scenes, David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) will be looking forward to taking over Audrey’s salon after finding out about her brutal news.
While Audrey had recently promised to leave the salon to her grandson, finding out her money had been taken changed her mind.
She will be seen breaking the news to David this week that she will be reclaiming control of her business, leaving her grandson a little irritated.
After somehow losing the £80,000 in her bank account, Audrey comes to the conclusion she needs to continue working to survive.
With his dreams of running the salon now ruined, David will be forced to find another method of running his own business.
However, Corrie producer Iain MacLeod recently announced that David and his half-brother Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) will go into partnership.
The duo will open their own barber shop later this year, which will have a retro theme and allows patrons to drink beer whilst receiving a trim.
Iain explained: “One of the key things that has changed in Manchester is vape shops and barbers and it felt like having a hipster barbers totally plays into David and Nick’s idea of themselves as upwardly mobile young gentlemen.
“It’s also a place for our young cast to go in and drink beer but characters like Ken Barlow (William Roache) and Roy Cropper (David Neilson) would also go in, thinking it was an Edwardian throwback.
“I want somewhere where you have Roy and Adam Barlow (Samuel Robertson) in adjacent chairs, shooting the breeze.”
However it may look suspicious that David and Nick can suddenly afford a brand new business.
Could it come out that David and Nick were in fact the people responsible for taking Audrey’s money?
Meanwhile it has also been revealed Angie Appleton (Victoria Ekanoye) could be set to leave the soap.
This event will follow her estranged husband Jude Appleton (Paddy Wallace) stealing from his mother, Mary Taylor (Patti Clare).
But will she somehow get her own back on Jude before she makes a break for it?
Coronation Street continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV.
