In upcoming scenes on Coronation Street, David (played by Jack P. Shepherd) will reveal his desire to emigrate to New Zealand with his father.
His decision will leave girlfriend Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) stunned and the couple are set to argue over his eagerness to leave Weatherfield.
Martin (Sean Wilson) will also be left baffled by his sudden decision to move countries and urges him to reconsider.
The hairdresser will be betrayed by his father who will chat to Josh (Ryan Clayton) about David’s interest in New Zealand.
Josh is expected to try and convince Martin to tell David moving country is not a good idea and he should reconsider staying in Weatherfield.
The mechanic will explain that David was furious when he heard that his father was moving, which could explain his decision to follow him abroad.
Following their conversation, Martin will confront his son, insisting that he should listen to Shona and his children before making a final decision about New Zealand.
Furious that his dad has spoken to his rapist, David will be left feeling betrayed and alone.
However, he will finally reach a decision about his future. Will he reveal to Martin that he was raped and will he leave Weatherfield?
Monday night’s episode saw David wake up Josh’s bed after the horrific sexual assault and find his clothes neatly folded with a note placed on top.
Now, soap star Ryan has opened up about the sickening detail, which was inspired by real-life victims’ experiences.
“I spoke to Sam from Survivors Manchester and the one thing that Sam said was the morning after they had, and for other stories, where the people had then left nice notes, or folded their clothes up like we saw the other night,” he said on BBC Radio 5Live.
“They treated it like, ‘Oh, what a great night we had and it was totally consensual’.
“Completely in denial and, ‘We had a great night and I hope you feel well this morning’.”
He added that he was “definitely happy” to take on the role of rapist Josh as he knew how much of an impact the storyline would have.
