Coronation Street fans are all too familiar with the drama surrounding pregnant Eva Price (played by Catherine Tyldesley).
The barmaid has not told anyone she is expecting her first child, with the exception of Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor).
Even the baby’s father Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) is in the dark, despite them living just metres away from each other.
What’s more, Eva has made a deal with infertile Toyah to let her raise her daughter once she is born.
But the mum-to-be has recently began to bond with her unborn child and is now second guessing the whole situation.
In an upcoming episode, Eva will sign a lease on a cottage in Lymm to have a bit of time away from Weatherfield.
However, she soon has second thoughts when she attends a parenting course with Toyah and the midwife leading the session mentions the importance of the father’s involvement.
Looking around at the couples in the class, Eva can’t help but think about Aidan and their child.
Seeing that Eva is conflicted, Toyah will encourage her to come clean to Aidan that she is pregnant with his baby.
Catherine said: “When she mentions the father’s involvement, Eva looks round the room at all these couples and sees them getting ready for what should be the most important moment in their lives.
“She suddenly realises she is robbing Aidan of the chance to be there, should he wish to be there.
“He will never get to hold her, sing to her and do all the things that dads are supposed to do and that overwhelms her at that point.
“That is the big-hearted Eva that comes through – she cares about other people, she grew up without a dad, and that is another key part of this.”
Next week Eva will be faced with a huge decision – does she tell Aidan the truth and work on building a life with him?
Or will she fall back on her plan to give Toyah her daughter and keep it hidden from Aidan forever?
Revealing that she hopes Eva and Aidan can work things out, Catherine said: “This whole year has just been horrific for both of them, they have both made mistakes and they should really just sit down and talk.”
She went on to say that Eva would “cherish” her daughter now that she is no longer “terrified” of having a baby.
Catherine and Shayne are both leaving Coronation Street this summer. They announced their departure at the end of last year.
The door has reportedly been left opened for Catherine who made the decision to quit the show after seven years.
Coronation Street continues Friday on ITV 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
