The vicar (played by Daniel Brocklebank) is currently adjusting to life as a father after adopting his ex-boyfriend Drew’s (Tom Godwin) daughter Summer Spellman (Matilda Freeman).
Billy and his boyfriend Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) may be busy playing happy families but a dark secret from his past could ruin everything.
Soap boss Kate Oates teased that his storyline will shock viewers and will also have a huge impact on his Weatherfield neighbours.
“We have a very dark backstory for Billy coming up which is going to have a very big impact on another family in the street,” she explained.
Kate hinted that things are likely to get worse for Phelan’s victim, but there is a chance he could escape and reveal the truth behind his whereabouts for the past eight months.
“We have a massive story with Phelan and the house guest in his cellar,” she divulged.
“We will play that out over Autumn and will see how he deals with that problem. Will Andy see the light of day or not?”
