Bethany (played by Lucy Fallon) found herself in a harrowing grooming storyline last year on Coronation Street.
The schoolgirl fell head-over-heels for Nathan (played by Chris Harper), but he was soon revealed to have sinister intentions.
Nathan was revealed to be the leader of a sex ring which abused young girls, something which has left Bethany scarred for life.
Although she thought her problems were over as some of the culprits were in prison, it seems Coronation Street will revisit the plot in the coming weeks.
Bethany’s on-off boyfriend, Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), appears to have moved on after their last break-up with new kid on the block, Kaya Westbrook (Mollie Winnard).
Craig picked up her number after he went on a lunch date with Bethany, much to the latter’s distaste.
And it seems Kayla is hiding a secret which will come out to haunt the schoolgirl.
The Daily Star revealed earlier today how she is actually the daughter of PC Neil Clifton (Ben Cartwright).
The dodgy policeman was a key player in Bethany’s growing and it seems Kayla’s arrival in her life will just push her back further with her progress.
A source told the paper: “Bethany struggles to adjust to having one of Neil’s family members so close to her.
“Viewers will have to wait and see why Kayla is in Weatherfield.
“She keeps her identity secret at first.
“So it’s possible she is secretly plotting revenge on Bethany for having her dad arrested and banged up or she could be keen to try to make amends for her father’s terrible crimes.”
The publication reports how Bethany finds herself experiencing harrowing flashbacks of her time with Neil.
She begins to wonder how she could ever move on with her life when she keeps having reminders of her past.
Will Bethany ever be able to move on from her ordeal?
It is similarly bad news for her uncle David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) who is struggling to come to terms with his sexual assault.
Following his rape, the hairdresser has kept quiet on his attack.
However, tomorrow could mark a new start in his recovery as he finally confides in Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) about his ordeal.
Coronation Street continues tomorrow on ITV at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
