Coronation Street spoilers: Bethany Platt haunted by Nathan Curtis after shock bombshell

Bethany (played by Lucy Fallon) is positively shaken when she discovers Neil Clifton (Ben Cartwright) wants to appeal against his conviction.

Coronation Street fans will recall Neil was the dodgy police officer who paid for sex with the school girl when she was under Nathan’s (Christopher Harper) control.

And now he’s back to haunt her as he launches a case against his crimes.

Doting Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) runs to tell Bethany the horrible news but their woes don’t end there.

Colson told Radio Times: “It’s a knee-jerk reaction – he overhears that Neil is planning to try and overturn his conviction, which for Craig is the worst news possible.

“In his current mindset, everything is getting on tip of him so he has to let it out.

“He goes straight round to the Platts and tells Bethany, but he doesn’t think of the consequences of his actions until afterwards.”

And they turn out to be sizeable as Craig’s superiors think he is too involved in the case and plan to pull him out.

DC Leigh (Marie Critchley) advises Craig to take some time off, fearing he could compromise the case in the end.

What’s more, with his battle against OCD reaching melting point, it isn’t long before he lashes out at Bethany.

After she interrupts him mid-ritual, Craig flips and blames her for her everything.

Colson explained: “For Craig, this all comes at the worst possible time. He’s doing his ritual and can’t get distracted – and now there’s all this banging on the door and shouting from outside.

“Craig is close to the point of a breakdown, but without knowing it, he’s saved by Bethany, who bursts into the flat.”

Bethany tells his mother (Lisa George) what she has seen and it seems he will finally get help for his growing OCD woes, until his lover goes behind his back to see his police superiors to explain the situation.

Embarrassed and worried about the status of his job, Craig erupts at Bethany – is it all over for the pair?

Coronation Street continues tomorrow night on ITV at 7.30pm.
