The character has reappeared in Weatherfield despite being sentenced to 25-years in jail last year for the murder of Tina McIntyre (played by Michelle Keegan).
In the episode, it was revealed that his ex-girlfriend Tracey Barlow (Kate Ford) has been harbouring Rob (Marc Bayliss) in the disused gym after he escaped from prison.
But the fugitive might not be sticking around as the actor teased Rob could be killed off.
When asked at a Coronation Street press event how long he would be around for, Marc replied: “Not permanently.”
The actor also hinted that Rob’s future is doomed as he revealed the killer will be taking each day as it comes after his escape from prison.
He said: “It’s a do or die situation that he’s actually in so it is very much off the cuff, minute by minute.
“We’re actually trying to tell the story where there is a sense of urgency there. He’s changing his mind all the time as to what the right angle is.”
Rob will be faced with many challenges as he comes to terms with no longer being locked up behind bars and Marc admitted he will come unstuck.
He continued: “He’s changing his mind all the time as to what the right angle is. What is the right thing to do?
“And as we know, he makes the wrong decision but that gives me something great to play.”
Marc also revealed that Rob could be involved in the attempted murder of Ken Barlow.
Coronation Street continues tomorrow at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
