The “feisty” newcomer (played by Nicola Thorpe) teased her upcoming debut, telling press including Express.co.uk that her stint on the show will bring out a new side to Phelan (Connor McIntyre).
Nicola explained: “When she arrives she obviously has no idea that this man could be her daughter – her parents are both dead as far as she is aware.
“She is Seb’s [Franklin] coworker and encourages him to have an apprenticeship at the Builders’ Yard and they form a relationship.
“She hasn’t really got anything to resent other than she’s lived a lie but ultimately that’s not Phelan’s fault but that lies with her parents not being honest.
“With both of her parents being dead I think she would be stupid not to let him in her life.
“It’s lovely as a fan of the show to see this side of him, and I get so excited to see this new side,” the 28-year-old added.
On top of this, Nicola teased that Phelan’s daughter is “warm, very caring, but fierce” and will be sticking around on the Cobbles for a while.
The actress, who appeared in Doctor Who opposite Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman, added that Nicola did pick up some of her dad’s personality.
“There are a few moments where that [behaviour] comes out and that worries her…but I haven’t hit anyone on the head with a laptop yet!” she joked.
Coronation Street continues tomorrow on ITV at 7.30pm.
