Fans of the ITV show watched on in horror on Monday night as Chesney Brown (played by Sam Aston) was brutally stabbed by Rich in an unfortunate series of events involving Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill).
Before Robert eventually stitched Rich up and handed him into the police tonight, the pair could be seen with the drug in the car, with Rich sniffing a white powder for all to see.
After watching the harrowing scenes, viewers were quick to take to Twitter to slam bosses for airing such a moment while children could still be watching before bedtime.
One person raged: “8.40pm and some guys sniffing class A’s on #coronationstreet. Calm down Corrie!”
“Finding the drug taking a bit too much to watch again before the watershed @itvcorrie #corrie kids are still watching!” a second blasted.
A third slammed: “Not entirely sure viewers WANT or NEED to see characters on @itvcorrie snorting drugs! #Corrie,” while a fourth moaned: “That wasn’t necessary.”
Another social media user was keen to vent their worry about Robert’s protection after Rich was taken away by cops, sighing: “Oh Robert! You are right but I can’t help thinking it’s all going to go wrong for you! #CoronationStreet.”
Corrie fans were thrilled last night as Chesney finally woke up after his life was left hanging in the balance following the horrific attack.
Viewers saw the character’s face light up this evening as his on-off girlfriend Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) was finally let into the hospital room to pay him a visit.
