The teen will return home in upcoming scenes after the Platts rescue her from Nathan’s (played by Chris Harper) evil grasp but she will refuse to believe how dangerous the groomer is.
Her mother Sarah (Tina O’Brien), Gary (Mikey North), David (Jack P. Shepherd) and Shona (Julia Goulding) all try to explain that Nathan has been sexually exploiting her for money but she won’t listen to them.
Bethany (Lucy Fallon) is certain that her fiancé is the perfect man and is persuaded by Nathan to tell her mum that they have broken up so they can continue their relationship.
The groomer will also send Neil (Ben Cartwright) to her home in his police uniform to “interview” her in a bid to keep Sarah happy.
But things will take a disturbing turn when her mum finds her searching for her passport and Audrey (Sue Nicholls) spots a burn mark on her arm, leaving them fearful she is still under Nathan’s control.
While Audrey insists that Bethany will soon grow bored of Nathan, Sarah is left bereft when she sees her daughter trying to burn her other arm with a cigarette.
When confronted about her self-harm, the schoolgirl will break down as she tells her mother that she deserves to be punished for letting Nathan down.
Speaking about the upcoming scenes, soap star Tina said: “When Sarah finds Bethany searching for her passport, it completely throws her.
“Audrey spots the burn mark on her arm and tries to comfort her by saying that Nathan will be a distant memory soon.
“But later Sarah finds Bethany trying to burn her other arm with a cigarette, as she thinks she has let Nathan down.”
She added: “It dawns on Sarah how deep Nathan has got Bethany into his web.”
Coronation Street continues tomorrow on ITV at 7.30pm.
