The 16-year-old schoolgirl (played by Lucy Fallon) will be forced to prove her loyalty to fiancé Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) after her mother Sarah goes to the police.
In Friday’s episode of the ITV soap, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) rescues her daughter Bethany from Nathan’s flat after she failed to show up at a wedding fair they had planned to attend together.
After finding her passed out drunk in a scantily-clad outfit, Sarah takes her daughter back to her house where the youngster then goes hysterical.
When she wakes up, Bethany is shocked to find her mother has locked her in the house and takes her anger out on the Platt family by throwing ornaments and even stabs Sarah’s boyfriend Gary Winddass (Mikey North) in the arm.
The shocking scenes force Sarah into action as she she calls the police round to tell them everything she knows about Nathan and explains she thinks her daughter is scared of him.
But the officer who goes round to help is Nathan’s friend Neil, who is part of the grooming ring and he recently raped Bethany a couple of weeks ago.
Neil reports Sarah’s worries to Nathan and Bethany, and the youngster is left fuming at her mother for interfering.
Telling Sarah she wants nothing to do with her, it is apparent that Bethany remains under Nathan’s spell as she slips further into his grasp.
Later on, Nathan suggests they invite Neil and another friend over so she can “show her gratitude” but the brainwashed teenager knows exactly what he means.
Will Bethany continue to obey her manipulative fiancé? Will anyone be able to save Bethany?
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7:30pm on ITV.
