This evening’s shocking scenes saw Nathan (played by Christopher Harper) lash out on his partner-in-crime Mel Maguire (Sonia Ibrahim) by trapping her hand in a cash machine at the tanning salon they worked at.
The attack came after Bethany (Lucy Fallon) vented her fury upon finding a picture of Mel and Nathan kissing on her laptop.
Bethany finally began to doubt her relationship with creepy Nathan after he told her not to act like a spoilt child over the photo.
Later in the double-bill, Nathan began to worry that his sinister plans for Bethany were being ruined and so took his anger out on his assistant Mel.
In a particularly harrowing moment, Nathan warned Mel that she would have to take Bethany’s place in the sex ring if his plan didn’t work out.
Nathan has been grooming the school girl for sexual exploitation and has already hinted to a friend that he can have sex with her when she’s “ready”.
Will Bethany come to her senses and leave Nathan before it’s too late?
Speaking about the developing storyline, Coronation Street boss Kate Oates said recently: “It will continue to be a slow-burner.
“We’re playing it out over a real time frame and not shying away from the details.
“Bethany’s mum Sarah is currently under the misapprehension that she’s clued up about everything her daughter is going through, but it’s actually beyond her wildest nightmares,” she told Radio Times.
