Coronation Street: Lucy Fallon drops MAJOR spoiler about Bethany Platt's future

Lucy, 21 – who has spoken out a lot about the harrowing storyline – said that it’s “going to be a long road to recovery,” but it looks like there is going to be a “light at the end of the tunnel”.

She explained, when asked what the future holds: “Obviously we want justice for Bethany and comeuppance for the bad people who have done things to her.

“I think it’s a long road to recovery, but I feel there needs to be light at the end of the tunnel. At the moment she needs some Platt scenes on the sofa with a cup of tea – just simple stuff – and hopefully she’ll be all right.”

Lucy also spoke out about filming some of the tougher scenes, with her specifically going into detail about the horrific moment she was gang raped by Nathan’s (played by Christopher Harper) friends, one of which was policeman Neil (Ben Cartwright).

She continued to tell Fabulous magazine: “There have been scenes where I have genuinely cried because they’ve been so hard to do. Obviously the rape scene with Neil was the hardest, and the one with all the men in the flat, because imagining that actually happening to someone is just horrible.”

The actress’ comments come after Bethany was left devastated in Friday night’s episode of Coronation Street when she was told that the police didn’t have enough evidence to prosecute Nathan, so they had to let him go.

The second instalment then saw Bethany turn to self-harming once again, with her picking at a fresh scar on her arm, as Sarah told Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) that she would have to get Neil – who has been in on the sex ring plot from the start – round to talk to her daughter.

As the traumatic scenes unfolded, one person screamed: “Nathan will come after Bethany #corrie.”

“Heard it was going to get worse for poor Bethany, bless her,” a second shared.

A third cried: “I’m feeling devastated for poor Bethany right now #Corrie #coronationstreet.”

Coronation Street continues on Monday at 7.30pm on ITV.
