Chris, 52, will be returning to Virgin Radio at the beginning on next year, having had a show on the station 20 years ago.
The former BBC Radio 2 breakfast show presenter stood down from his role on the broadcaster in September after 13 years hosting his show.
However, in an announcement on his departure, Chris promised listeners he would be staying with the station until Christmas with his last date set to air on 24 December.
Appearing on The One Show last night, Chris revealed when listeners could expect to hear him on his new breakfast show with Virgin Radio, which will begin 21 January 2019.
Chris sat down with presenters Matt Baker, 40, and Alex Jones, 41, the radio presenter said: “Over just a year ago, last November, somebody pointed out the fact I’d been at Radio 2 for 12 years.”
After telling BBC bosses he was thinking of moving on, Chris added: “Virgin Radio came in and said if you’re serious about moving on, maybe we could do something special.
“They said, ‘Well what about the first ever commercial radio breakfast show without any adverts,’ so that’s what were doing.”
He then went on to reveal the air date, adding: “So we start 21 Jan, 6.30am until 10am so half an hour extra because Sky have come in as a commercial partner.”
Explains what listeners can expect from his shows, Chris said: “We’ll go to Formula 1 events with listeners, we’ll go to the set of Game Of Thrones…we’ll fill it with that kind of content.
The One Show hosts then went on to congratulate Chris for his efforts at the BBC, with Chris going on to say it will be sad to leave on Monday.
Chris will be replaced by Strictly Come Dancing It Takes Two host Zoe Ball, 48, when the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast show returns in January.
“Zoe’s going to be on in January. Zoe’s brilliant and I took over from Terry [Wogan] – we’re all working for Terry, we all still work for Terry,” going on to praise the former breakfast radio host.
Speaking of Chris’ appointment, Sky CEO for the UK & Ireland, Stephen van Rooyen said: “The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Virgin Radio will bring audiences something completely new, bold and fresh – everything we love at Sky.
“We’re excited to create an innovative radio first with Chris and Virgin Radio, and bring Sky customers even more of the entertainment they love when Virgin Radio launches across Sky from 7 January.”
Following the announcement of her role as the first ever female host of the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast show, Zoe said: “This is bonkers. I’m not underestimating the task ahead of me.”
Zoe added she hoped to continue presenting It Takes Two alongside her role on the Breakfast show.
“That’s my other favourite job. So I’m really hoping I’ll be able to do both.”
The hot favourite to replace Chris when he made the announcement, Sara Cox, 44, will stand in for Zoe when she takes breaks from the show.
Standing in for Chris for short breaks while he was away from the station, Zoe has already had experience of manning the fort.
The Chris Evans Breakfast Show will air 21 January 2019 on Virgin Radio.
