Children in Need viewers beg for The Weakest Link to return after celebrity special airs

The BBC quiz show fronted by TV’s Queen of Mean, Anne Robinson, was back for a celebrity one-off special after being off screens for five years.

Braving the wrath of the 73-year-old was Cold Feet’s John Thomson, chef Rosemary Shrager, Holby City’s Chizzy Akudolu, This Morning’s Rylan Clark, Love Island star Kem Cetinay, presenter Maya Jama and columnist Giles Coren.

Anne was on fire with her hilarious jibes as she quipped to Kem: “You’re a hairdresser? Did somebody drop out?”

And Rylan, 29, was also on the receiving end as Anne said to him: “Is it possible that your teeth could have a career of their own?”

Chizzy walked away as the winner on the night, securing £15,000 for charity.

And those watching at home called for The Weakest Link to return for good as one nostalgic viewer said on Twitter: “I miss The Weakest Link #ChildrenInNeed.”

Another was determined to get the show back on screens as they wrote: “Can we have a petition to bring back The Weakest Link for good #ChildrenInNeed.”

“So The Weakest Link is as fantastic as ever and I request a full time comeback IMMEDIATELY! Incredible #TheWeakestLink #ChildrenInNeed,” said a third fan.

The big TV fundraiser also saw the Blue Peter alumni show off their moves to win a Pudsey Glitterball trophy during a Strictly Come Dancing special.

BBC Children in Need 2017: Weakest Link Celebrity Special is now available on BBC iPlayer.
