Cheating warning: If your partner holds this belief they could be more likely to cheat

Cheating is taboo in most relationships, but shockingly Christians are more likely to be caught straying away then atheists, according to one website.

Followers of Christianity are more likely to be unfaithful in their marriages than atheists, IllicitEncounters.com has claimed.

The site for online cheating asked its members to state their religious belief.

They found that 35 per cent of their members consider themselves Christians.

In comparison, only eight per cent of married adulterers claimed they are atheist or agnostic.

The site surveyed 2,000 of its members, and surprisingly, over a third (35 per cent) claimed to be Christian or some denomination of the religion.

Meanwhile, those who identified as agnostic/atheist were found to be the most faithful to their partners, with a surprisingly low eight per cent of married adulterers identifying as non-religious.

Interestingly, the large majority of religious adulterers, Christian or otherwise, said that not being allowed to have sex before marriage because of their religious beliefs has led to them feeling dissatisfied with having just one intimate partner.

In fact, 60 per cent said that they wanted to sleep and experiment with more than one partner.

A further 10 per cent said that there was something irresistible about wanting what they couldn’t have.

Fifteen per cent said that they married prematurely in order to be able to have an intimate relationship with their partner, but marrying too soon was a mistake and led to their affair.

Interestingly, 12 per cent said that they were consoled by the fact that God would forgive them, despite their transgressions.

The site’s spokesperson, Christian Grant, expands: “For even the most devout Christian, adultery is the ultimate forbidden fruit.

“It’s often said that we want what we can’t have, and after being restricted from certain pleasures for significant periods of your life, it’s only natural that you’ll want to satisfy your curiosities eventually.

“No sex before marriage is arguably the biggest restriction that comes with certain religious beliefs and what we’re seeing is many couples rush to marry in order to be able to express their love intimately.

“Unfortunately, being too quick to marry often increases the chances of infidelity, as couples realise that their partner might not be the one after all.”
