The Prime Minister made the shocking announcement that she was calling a snap general election yesterday, which has dominated the the ITV show this morning.
However, while Theresa May has come under fire for thrusting another vote in the face of her nation, Piers Morgan was more concerned with her “power bob”.
“Can we start with her bob?” he quipped, as the Tory leader fell under the spotlight. “It’s an election power bob.”
Understandably raged by her co-host’s dig, Charlotte snapped: “Don’t talk about her hair. She’s made a very serious announcement and the first thing you want to talk about is her hair.”
And Charlotte wasn’t the only onlooker insulted by Piers’ comments as many viewers lashed out at the presenter on Twitter.
“@GMB turning over for good! Comments by @piersmorgan about Teresa Mays hair,” fumed one audience member, as another sighed: “Yawn, let’s talk about her frock and “power bob” .Turning over once more…”
A third complained: “Why is @piersmorgan making fun of Teresa May’s hair?! If a man was leading the party he’d have gone straight into the politics! #Sexist#GMB,” before one more hissed: “@GMB Well said Charlotte Hawkins! What does Teresa Mays hair have to do with her snap election announcement.”
“@GMB covering Theresa Mays shock snap election decision and the first thing Piers comments on is her hair,” moaned a fifth, while this particularly disgruntled audience member barked: “@GMB about to discuss the election & all @piersmorgan can do is focus on TM’s hair. Sexist pig, would he do that if there was a male PM?”
Piers also accused Vince Cable, who is hoping to stand for a Lib Dem Parliamentary seat again, of pulling out of Good Morning Britain over fears he’d be quizzed over his views on homosexuality.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
