EastEnders actor and singer Shaun appeared on Celebrity Big Brother last year alongside Sarah Harding and Amelia Lily.
The actor was eliminated from the show two days before the final day, after not receiving enough votes from the public to win.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Shaun opened up about his time on the show and what goes on behind the scenes.
Commenting on his own experience, he dished: ”I was dull, and all the producers want is mayhem.”
He added that he was encouraged to “get in there and get involved” when arguments arose in the house.
Despite wanting to get involved, Shaun noted: “To be honest if I’m in there screaming at an 18-year-old girl it doesn’t look very good.
“I went in there with the resolve that if anything happened I would defend myself – but everyone spoke to me with respect.
“To be 52 and to be able to do Celebrity Big Brother is great.
“It’s just almost a privilege to be able to go and do something that weird and wonderful at a fairly late age.”
Shaun went on to admit that he doesn’t think he’ll be appearing on any other reality shows any time soon.
“I think you have a sort of reality ‘window’ – I think Big Brother shuts the reality show door for two or three years ‘cause you’ve had your slot,” he explained.
“I came out of Celebrity Big Brother and didn’t work for two months. So it’s no good at getting work at all, and I just needed the money.”
Channel 5 recently revealed there are no current plans for the series to continue in 2019.
Speaking about why Celebrity Big Brother may not continue, Shaun remarked: “Love Island has stolen it’s thunder.
“They’re all beautiful people and they’re in a Big Brother situation – and they all cop-off with each other.
“The people who want that sort of thing are Big Brother fans.”
Shaun recently reprised his role as Barry from EastEnders for a remake of the iconic 1980s Levi’s laundrette advert.
He can be seen stripping off for the piece for Dr. Beckmann’s Colour and Dirt Collector sheets.
Revealing why he wanted to take part in the project, he said: “I’ve played many a character in my time, but the opportunity to step into Nick Kamen’s shoes for Dr. Beckmann’s latest ad was one I simply couldn’t turn down.”
Celebrity Big Brother returns tonight to Channel 5.
