Channel 5 bosses are said to have tried to tempt the This Morning host into joining the line-up of housemates by promising him an £800,000 fee.
However, the 57-year-old ITV favourite reportedly turned down the opportunity, despite it being the biggest sum he has been offered to date.
“Eamonn has turned down a number of offers over the years,” an unknown source told the Daily Star. “This one is the biggest so far at £800,000. But no amount of money could tempt him.
“He’s said it isn’t about the money because he doesn’t need to earn more cash than he already does through his TV projects,” the insider added.
“Eamonn told producers he absolutely loves the show and is a committed viewer, but definitely doesn’t was to be a housemate.”
However, Celebrity Big Brother fans could get to see Eamonn feature in the series anyway as he reportedly expressed interest in being involved in a task.
“Eamonn’s been involved in debating tasks in the past and he’s said he’d do something like that again,” the source revealed.
The new series kicks off in a matter of days with an all-female line-up of housemates entering the Borehamwood compound in an exciting twist.
Singer Sinitta, Carry On star Amanda Barrie and Made In Chelsea’s Louise Thompson are all rumoured to be heading into the house.
Some male stars will be added to the line-up later in the series.
