The Coronation Street legend addressed reports of a rivalry between her and Shane J after becoming the third celebrity to be evicted from the Big Brother house during the semi-final.
Amanda spoke to Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit On the Side host Rylan Clark-Neal about the status of her relationship with Shane after the pair exchanged words in the house.
Explaining why she defended Ann Widdecombe so fiercely during her time on the show, she said: “She looks quite hard, but she’s not, she has a soft centre.
“It was nothing to do with him [Shane J] I adore him, I love him. The thing was I get very protective of Ann. I don’t know, I had so many laughs with her it was ridiculous.
“I called her Widdecombe radio because I just switched her on. I just got on with her.”
Asked what she thought about Shane J, she replied: “I loved him. Everyone can have their own opinion. I just got a little protective because he didn’t know her.”
Meanwhile, fans of the show were shocked by the 82-year actress’ behaviour following her eviction, with many questioning what happened to her during her exit interview.
The soap star seemed to zone out during her discussion with host Emma Willis and on few occasions struggled to reply to questions.
Viewers at home were baffled by her behaviour during the interview and flocked to Twitter to air their concerns.
One wrote: “Is Amanda alright? #CBBAmanda #CBB,” while another added: “Seriously what is up with Amanda?”
A third moaned: “Frankly this is an irritating interview because of how weird she’s being #CBB.”
Others found the whole situation quite humorous, with one writing: “This interview is BRILLIANT!”
A second remarked: “I want a glass of whatever Amanda had! #cbb,” while another commented: “Gutted she’s gone she was pure TV gold!”
Elsewhere, Emma Willis dropped a bombshell when she revealed that all evicted housemates would be returning to the show.
Spilling all to Rylan, she said: “I’m told our evicted housemates – I assumed it was all of them – are returning to the house tomorrow to run tasks together and then they will have a big party.”
On Friday the winner of Celebrity Big Brother will be announced. Former politician Ann, 70, is the bookies favourite to win at odds of 6-4.
Celebrity Big Brother continues tonight on Channel 5 at 9pm.
