Call of Duty WW2 setting LEAKED: Sledgehammer to go back to series' roots for COD 2017?

It looks like Call of Duty 2017 may have a WW2 setting on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The FamilyVideoGamers YouTube channel (which you can check out this link) claims to have been sent leaked promotional material that shows a WWII setting for the upcoming COD.

This includes a promotional poster featuring the D-Day landings, as well as various steelbook cases for the game.

The FamilyVideoGamers video goes into more details about the images, which were sent by an anonymous source that is said to have a history of successful leaks in the past.

Some users on Reddit have claimed that one of the stills is from Saving Private Ryan, but there’s currently no proof of that. Still, it’s worth taking with a pinch of salt until Activision”s official announcement.

It would certainly make sense after the lukewarm reaction to last year’s game, especially compared to the WWI set Battlefield 1.

You can check out screengrabs of some of the leaked images below…

Sledgehammer Games is making this year’s instalment of the Call of Duty shooter series.

Based on an old Sledgehammer Twitter post, it was previously suggested that the new Call of Duty would be set in London during one of the great world wars, which ties in to these new leaks.

Published on New Year’s Day, the snippet features an old engine – possibly a steam engine – that judders into life, before the dials turn to ‘2017’.

Just as those numbers align, you’ll then hear an old-timey chime, which many believe to be the sound of London’s Big Ben.

Sledgehammer Games boss Glen Schofield has also posted a few teasers about the upcoming reveal for Call of Duty 2017.

Stating that his hands were tied when it came to giving out big details, Schofield told fans on Twitter: “There’s nothing I can say about the game except there are boots and ground and I guess some roots. I hope I can talk soon or I may implode.

“Wait until we reveal. You’re gonna go nuts. Our best yet dude! Man, I’m so psyched to show it…someday.”

He also hinted that the reveal date has been set, although he wasn’t in a position to share more, adding: “I don’t know. I just make the game. Actually I was in a meeting and just when they said the date, I sneezed. Didn’t hear it.”
