Members of the audience attending the audition phase of Britain’s Got Talent have been subjected to extra checks entering the building, reports the Daily Star.
The auditions, that were being held at the London Palladium, are said to have a substantial amount of extra security compared to previous years.
The security has been brought in to protect the Britain’s Got Talent judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams.
Security has also been increased around presenters Ant and Dec.
Britain’s Got Talent bosses are apparently not taking any chances at the auditions following a spree of acid attacks throughout London.
The show’s auditions, which are currently being filmed at the London Palladium, have seen fans going through extra checks, with security confiscating any open bottles of water.
A spokesperson for the talent show told the Daily Star: “We take the safety around the show very seriously.
“We continually review security procedures to meet our needs.”
The news follows reports of a fire on stage after an act dropped his flaming prop.
A source told the Mirror: “We are used to all sorts happening on the show, but this really was the most crazy audition we have ever seen.”
Even judge David, 46, said: “Well, that got slightly out of hand.”
A fan commented on the tighter security on Twitter, saying: “London Palladium are stopping people taking opened bottles of water/drink in.
“Then they’re sellIng 500ml bottles of water to audience members for £2.50.”
Although this may sound normal for any large venue, the fan went on to confirm: “They didn’t do this a year ago.
“How sad they’ve decided to profit from the situation!”
Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV later this year.
