Kyle Tomlinson, 15, previously appeared on the ITV talent show three years ago but was told by the judge that he should go home and get some singing lessons.
David was surprised to hear that he was mean to the youngster and had sent him away with strict instructions to improve his vocal skills.
“I came a couple of years ago and was told the get a singing teacher,” he explained, before adding he was just 12 when David made the cruel comments.
“I was the mean one?” the judge asked in disbelief. “I’m the only nice one here.”
Kyle then proceeded to shut down the 45-year-old by blowing him away with his incredible rendition of Hallelujah.
Stunned by his improvement, David apologised for his previous comments, telling him: “I am really glad you came back and proved me wrong.”
And to prove how impressed he was by Kyle’s singing David reduced him to tears by pressing the Golden Buzzer, meaning he will progress straight through to the semi-finals.
He wasn’t the only singer to leave the judges speechless during the latest round of auditions.
Doncaster duo The Pensionaries, comprising of Malcolm, 75, and Henry, 84, took to the stage to perform Frank Sinatra’s hit You Make Me Feel So Young.
