BMW M3 CS 2018 – ELECTRIFYING new limited edition car debuts

BMW has debuted the new M3 CS, an even sportier version of the M3 variant.

The four-door sports saloon is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight-six engine which produces 454bhp and just shy of 600Nm of torque.

This is an increase of 10bhp and 48Nm on the Competition pack which allows it to accelerate from zero-62mph in just 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 174mph.

M3 CS is therefore 0.3 seconds quicker at accelerating and has a higher top speed by 19 mph.

In part this is achieved by the increase in power but it is also down to the weight reduction on the new variant.

It weighs 1,585kg and carbon fibre elements have been used to slash to overall weight, mainly on the bonnet, to lower the car’s centre of gravity.

Paired with the 3.0-litre straight six engine is a seven-speed twin-clutch paddle shift gearbox and adaptive suspension.

The suspension has four driver modes – Comfort, Sports, Sport + and standard – and is largely similar to the one on the Competition Package.

Among some of the car’s the standard features are automatic climate control a Harmon Kardon surround sound system and Navigation system professional.

The car’s styling is also reflective of the upgraded sporting credentials.

It has twin LED headlights, large three-section air intakes, Gurney lip spoiler, front splitter and rear diffuser, which have all been redesigned for the M3 CS.

In addition to this, the bonnet features scoop to improve aerodynamics and air intake.

The special-edition model – which will be limited to a run of approximately 1,200 units due to production factors – will be built from March 2018.

Orders for the new BMW M3 CS can be placed from January 2018.

Prices for the car are £86,630, which does pose a conundrum for buyers.

It is around £25,000 more expensive than the M3 Competition edition and only slightly quicker and slightly modified styling.

Therefore you are paying a premium for the car’s rarity and exclusive badge – but is that worth £25,000?
