It would be bad enough forgetting a co-star’s name if they weren’t actually right there with you.
The two Hollywood icons were being interviewed on the Graham Norton show last night when the hilarious gaffe occurred.
Ford and Gosling star together in the hugely-anticipated Blade Runner 2049, which takes places 30 years after the original.
At 79, the vereran star is in tremendous physical shape, but also used his quick wits to joke his way out of the situation.
Ford was talking about the first time he saw the sequel script. He said: “As I read it, I read about the character that, ummm, Ryan, umm, Ryan..?”
He turned to his co-star who replied with a straight face: “It’s Ryan”
As the audience laughed, Ford continued: “I called up the producers and said, ‘This is great. Why don’t we see if we can get, ummm…?”
By now, of course, the two stars had quickly turned it into a running joke, so Gosling duly nodded and confirmed his name again.
More hilarity ensued when Ford started to realise that he maybe wasn’t the biggest star in the film.
He said: “I suggested Ryan to play one of the key parts. It turned out they had been talking to him for months… They’d only been talking to me for weeks… so, I think they would have gone ahead without me anyway!”
Ford went on to speak about the moment he hit Gosling on set. READ THAT FULL STORY HERE.
The actor also promised fans that the new movie was up to his high standards. he added: “They finally came up with a good story. There was never an intention to make a sequel as the first one didn’t do well enough at the box office because it was wildly weird for the time. Over the years it has gained an enormous acceptance and following. I thought the script was awesome.”
