Big Brother WILL reveal general election results to housemates but viewers are OUTRAGED

The Channel 5 programme revealed Emma Willis will break the news and make the announcement to this year’s contestants.

Broadcasting live to the Borehamwood Bungalow, cameras will capture their reaction as they find out whether Theresa May has been able to retain the Conservative Party’s majority in Parliament.

A spokesperson told Radio Times: “Live tomorrow [Friday] night, Emma Willis will reveal the result of the General Election to the Big Brother housemates.”

But many viewers aren’t happy with this decision as they believed the announcement goes against the show’s principle of the housemates having no contact with the outside world.

One person wrote on Twitter: “Point of the show, no contact with outside world! I hate when this happens.”

“I repeat my point. It doesn’t matter if it’s to do with housemates. The premise of #bbuk is ‘no contact with the outside world’. Period,” stated another.

A third added: “NO she shouldn’t do this as it’s contact with the outside world x #bbuk.”

Another person exclaimed: “Oh, for f**k sake. Why not just install broadband and hand out iPhones!?”

However, some fans believed the housemates wouldn’t be interested as one viewer said: “Most of them probably don’t know an election is taking place, to be honest #bbuk.”

Earlier in the day, Big Brother announced they had advised this year’s contestants to complete a postal vote before entering the house.

They posted on Twitter: “In case you’re wondering… Big Brother advised the HMs how to arrange a postal vote before entering the House #BBUK #GeneralElection17.”

Big Brother continues tonight at 9.00pm on Channel 5.
