Will there be another season of Better Call Saul?
The good news is yes.
Better Call Saul has been renewed for a fifth season by AMC, just days before season four is due to premiere.
The announcement was made at the Television Critics Association summer press tour last week.
Season four is starting on August 6 in the US before being added to Netflix UK the next day.
So fans can look forward to a lot more of Bob Odenkirk’s transformation from Jimmy McGill to Saul Goodman.
When is Better Call Saul season 5 released?
Season four hasn’t even started yet but season five will most likely be out in 2019.
The forthcoming season is premiering later than usual, with the first two seasons dropping in February and last year’s arriving on April, so season five could be released at any stage.
The early renewal announcement suggests that production will be getting underway soon.
So maybe show bosses are planning another summer release around a year from now.
What will happen in Better Call Saul season 5?
This is largely dependent on what happens in season four.
AMC released a new synopsis for season four ahead of the release.
It reads: “In season four, Chuck’s (played by Michael McKean) death catalyses Jimmy’s transformation into Saul Goodman as he takes steps into the criminal world that will put his future as a lawyer — and his relationship with Kim (Rhea Seahorn) — in jeopardy.
“Meanwhile, Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) takes a more active role as Madrigal Electromotive’s newest (and most thorough) security consultant.
“And it’s a volatile time to be in Gus Fring’s (Giancarlo Esposito) employ, as Hector’s (Marc Margolis) collapse tears apart both Gus and Nacho’s (Michael Varga) well-laid plans.”
So season five will continue to chart Jimmy’s journey to becoming the Saul we know from Breaking Bad.
It may even give some clarity on how he ends up as Gene in the post Breaking Bad timeline.
Who is in the cast of Better Call Saul season 5?
Again, it’s just speculation at this point because we have yet to see what happens in season four.
Fans can be pretty certain that Bob Odenkirk will be returning as the titular protagonist.
However, there are some Better Call Saul characters who don’t appear in Breaking Bad – notably Kim and Nacho – so perhaps their future absence will be explained.
A new character set to play a big part in season four, Lalo (Tony Dalton) may be a big part of the story in season five.
Some more Breaking Bad characters may even make an appearance as the timelines for both series begin to merge and overlap.
So fans could be getting a Walter White (Bryan Cranston) or Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) cameo.
Is there a trailer for Better Call Saul season 5?
