Meghan Markle’s engagement ring is the best of a number of Royal Family engagement rings according to a new study by William May.
Britons prefer Meghan’s ring, which has three sparkling clear diamonds on a gold band, to Kate Middleton’s and Princess Eugenie’s.
Online jewellery retailer, William May, has conducted a survey of 2,250 Britons, and almost half thought the ring was the best at 49.3 per cent.
Only 35 per cent chose Kate Middleton’s sapphire, which once belonged to Princess Diana, as their favourite.
While overall both men and women preferred Meghan’s engagement ring, when it came to second best, the survey showed that they do have different taste.
Women preferred the look of Kate and Princess Diana’s engagement rings second best, whereas men favoured Princess Eugenie’s pink ring.
The study found that the average man is prepared to spend £1,471.01 on a ring to impress their future fiancé.
Unfortunately, the average woman expects their lover to drop £1,854.17 on their ring.
How much is Meghan Markle’s engagement ring worth?
It may be worth around £50,000. Sophie Lomax of 77Diamonds.com said: “With two round diamonds supporting what looks like a 2.5 carat cushion cut diamond, the stones are set in white gold with the main band of the ring in yellow gold.
“A ring of this size and quality would generally start at around £50,000.”
Little is known about Meghan’s first engagement ring, as the actress was an unknown then, having done very little work.
She was given the ring by her former husband Trevor Engelson.
