The 26-year-old is currently promoting her role in the Beauty and the Beast remake, and was asked on Lorraine today why if she really pulled out of Damian Chazelle’s musical.
Hinting that her full commitment to the Disney fairy tale influenced her decision, she said: “It’s one of those things where, with a movie like Beauty and the Beast, it’s three months prep, three or four months’ shooting, it’s in the UK… you’re in or you’re out.
“I was like, ‘I’ve kind of got to be all-in’. This was really where my heart was.
“I had to make sure I did this to the best of my ability.”
Watson also rejected the title role in the Cinderella remake, and told ITV’s Lorraine that her reaction to the offer of Belle was totally different.
“They offered me Cinderella and I was just like, ‘it doesn’t feel right for me’, I didn’t know they were gonna make Beauty and the Beast,” she recalled.
“Then when Beauty and the Beast came back around, I was like, ‘oh my God, I’ll do anything’.
“She’s [Belle] so fierce and so smart and I just think she’s the coolest. So when that came around, I was like, ‘I’d do anything’.”
Beauty and the Beast has left reviewers divided, with Express.co.uk taking a largely critical view.
However it is strongly expected to conquer the Box Office when it’s finally released this weekend.
Beauty and the Beast is out on March 17.
