BBC weather: Matt Taylor’s forecast hit by spelling ERROR as temperatures plummet

Delivering the morning forecast, Matt said viewers may be shocked when they step outside as temperatures have plummeted overnight.

But as he informed those watching BBC Breakfast of some local temperatures, there was an error as ‘Teesside’ was missing another letter ‘s’.

One fan said: “@BBCBreakfast come on Matt how are you spelling Teesside!? Two ‘s’ please!”

Matt said there is a frost to start the day and there is dense fog across the Midlands and southern England which will clear later in the day.

It will be dry for most of the UK but western parts will see some rain with eastern Scotland and Northern Ireland seeing heavy showers.

This evening, it will be particularly chilly in the south east of England and West Anglia.

Western parts of the UK will get a lot of wet weather but overnight, the heavy rain will push southwards and eastwards along with strong, gusty winds.

Tomorrow, there will be frost in the west to start the day and the morning commute will be very wet across Scotland, Wales and the south west of England.

BBC Breakfast continues weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
