Matt said there will be rain showers in parts of the UK despite the weather being much milder today.
Speaking from outside the Broadcasting house in central London, he said: “It’s a frost free start to your Monday morning UK wide, but as you can see behind me it does come at a price.
“Yes, it’s mild but it is also fairly cloudy across most areas and there is some rain particularly across eastern parts of the country.
“Best of the driest weather will be in the west.”
However, an extensive cloud will push its way across the country, bringing with it bursts of rain in eastern parts of the UK.
While in western areas it is said to be a lot drier, although, there could be some rainfall in northern Scotland and across northern England.
Matt added that where there is rain there will also be extensive hill fog, but it will not last long in Northern Ireland.
He said: “There will be a few breaks in the cloud for Northern Ireland and maybe one or two glimmers of morning brightness to the west of Wales, Devon and Cornwall.
“But across East Anglia, the south east and even the Channel Islands you can expect some rain coming and going through this morning.
“So very murky where you’ve got that rain with extensive hill fog around and throughout the day it’s those eastern areas that will hold on to the rain at times.”
Despite this, the west has a good chance of being bright and dry, alrthough western Scotland and Northern Ireland will see a bit of rain arrive throughout the day.
Today, temperatures are up with London, Plymouth and St Helier all expected to be as high as 11 degrees.
The lowest temperatures will be in the north in places such as Aberdeen and Lerwick where it is only seven celsius.
On Tuesday, the temperatures will drop when skies clear in the north and west. There could also be the possibility of frost in parts of western Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Northern and western areas will see some sunshine, while eastern areas will still experience some patchy rain and drizzle at times.
BBC Breakfast weather airs weekdays on BBC One at 6am.
